Chemical peels work to exfoliate the skin, triggering its healing response and increasing collagen production. Depending on your concerns, we can offer superficial, medium and deep skin peels to provide different levels of potency and address individual concerns.
Superficial Peels: This surface peel works on the outermost layers of skin. Minimal peeling is experienced with this treatment. For optimal results, we recommend minimum of six sessions.
Medium Peels: This peel penetrates more layers of skin, delivering powerful ingredients at a deeper level. This treatment is associated with mild peeling and crusting afterwards. Most patients require 3-6 sessions for best results.
Deep Peels: This is an intensive treatment for more dramatic results. Expect to experience redness and significant peeling following treatment. Patients only need to repeat treatments every few years.
Technique
Your skin will be assessed during your consultation, and depending on your skin tone, we may start with pre-treatments before your peel. Darker skin tones may need longer preparation time. On the day of your skin peel treatment, your skin will be prepared with a soothing cleanser, followed by gentle application of your chemical peel. Aftercare advice and a follow up appointment will be provided for optimum results.
Expect to experience some soreness or tingling during application.
Procedure
The skin peel procedure generally lasts from 45 - 60 minutes
Downtime
Superficial peels usually take 1-5 days for healing. Mild peels take an average of 7 days, while deeper peels can take a few weeks to heal.
Results
Results may vary, and relies upon adherence to aftercare advice and follow up treatments to maintain and prolong results. It is also key to maintain good self-care, such as hydration and sun protection. You will experience itching and peeling afterwards. However, skin picking must be avoided, as this can lead to irritation and scarring.
While extremely rare, scarring, infection and discolouration can occur with deeper peels.
