Anti-Wrinkle Treatment
Anti-wrinkle relaxing injections are a popular and effective treatment commonly used for reducing lines and wrinkles. Botulinum toxin A substance has been proven to be safe and effective in successfully relaxing the muscles of the affected area, softening their appearance and providing a refreshed, more youthful look, thus decreasing the signs of facial ageing.
Anti-wrinkle treatments work by blocking signals from the nerves to the areas of the muscles responsible for creating expression-based wrinkles. This helps to relax the supporting muscles that have lost their tone and contracted due to ageing. These loss of contraction has contributed to the slackening of the skin and development of lines and wrinkles

Technique
After an initial consultation, to assess your medical health and facial assessment, the treatment will be performed. A short, micro-thin needle is used to inject small quantities of the botulinum toxin A substance into the skin around the area of discussion, resulting in the softening of the appearance of deeper lines and wrinkles, and in some cases, can see the temporary eradication of the lines. The needles used are very fine and feel like tiny pin-pricks, which most patients easily tolerate.
Botulinum toxin A is a prescription only medication, therefore it should only be administered by highly trained nurses, doctors and dentists.
Procedure
Depending on how many areas being treated, the assessment and procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.
Downtime
Discomfort and downtime is minimal. There may be minor redness, which subsides within minutes, allowing you to return to normal activities soon after. However, you are advised to avoid intense physical acctivities and exercises, as well as make up and alcohol for 24 hours following treatment. Until the product has settled, we advise against touching the treatment areas, and avoid smoking, which could impact on your healing properly.
Results
The treatment takes 2 weeks to take full effect with a visible smoothening and reduction in wrinkles. A follow up appointment is usually recommended after 2 weeks to review the results. Their effect can last between 3-4 months*, though results do vary between individual patients.
