What is Sunekos?

Sunekos is an injectable treatment that uses a patented formular, combining amino acids with hyaluronic acid. It regenerates the ECM (Extracellular Matrix) of your skin by stimulating fibroblasts in the skin to produce collagen and elastin. It is ideal for those who want to naturally restore the youthful appearance of their skin and improve signs of ageing with or without the use of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler treatments. There are two formulations of Sunekos available; Sunekos 200 (Hyaluronic Acid low molecular weight) and Sunekos 1200 (Hyaluronic Acid Medium molecular weight).

How can Sunekos help me?

Sunekos deeply hydrates and plumps the treated tissue, leading to bio-genesis. The results include; a dramatically reduction in the severity of your wrinkles, hydration to the superficial and deep layers of your skin and a desirable volumizing effect. It boosts collagen and elastin production, resulting in a rejuvenated appearance. Sunekos is extremely versatile, and can be used to treat the following areas; under-eye area, decolletage, body, hands, neck, inner arms and thighs. It can treat various indications, including; loss of skin tone and laxity, skin dryness, acne scarring, sun damage, dark circles under the eyes and fine lines and wrinkles.

How safe is Sunekos treatment?

Sunekos treatments have an excellent safety profile, it is made from completely natural hyaluronic acid, which over time, slowly dissolve, causing no harm. Worldwide, they are one of the most requested non-surgical cosmetic treatment. However, as with any medical procedure, there are certain risks and side-effects, which we will discuss with you during your consultation. It is thus important to only have your treatments performed by qualified medical professionals.

How many Sunekos treatments will I need?

We recommend an initial treatment plan of four sessions 7 to 10 days apart, followed by maintenance every 6 months.

How do I prepare for my appoinment?

  • Unless prescribed by your doctor, avoid taking anti-inflammatories (aspirin, neurofen, ibuprofen, naproxen) for a few days prior to your treatment, as this increases the risk of bruising

  • If you are prone to bruising, take arnica orally a few days before your treatment to reduce the risk

  • If you are unwell on the day of your treatment, please contact us to reschedule your appointment

  • If there are any changes to your medical history or medication, please inform us before recieving treatment

  • Do not plan your treatment within 2 weeks of an important social event or holiday, as this may not allow enough time for side-effects to settle

What happens during an appointment?

We would have a consultation, going through your medical history form (which you would have completed prior to your appointment), assess your treatment area to determine if treatment is appropriate for you. We will go through the side effects specific to your treatment and costs involved, to enable you make an informed decision. Upon completion of consent, pre-treatment clinical photographs will be taken. Topical anaesthetic cream can be applied to enable a comfortable experience. Your skin will be cleaned and prepped for treatment. The Sunekos will be gently injected via a fine needle into a few points surrounding your area of concern.

How long do Sunekos treatments take?

Depending on the number of treatment areas, your appointment should typically last for 40 minutes.

How long do the results last?

Sunekos treatments produce long-lasting aesthetic results, if treatment protocols are maintained as advised in your clinical care plan. However, results may vary, and are dependent on individuals and treatment areas.** We expect full results to develop over a period of 12 weeks, as Sunekos stimulates collagen and elastin. However it is common to see improvements after the first session, with results typically lasting for 6 months on average.

Are there any risks related to Sunekos treatments?

Sunekos is made from high concentration of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar, that we produce in our skin, thus it is safe to use. There is low risk of adverse reactions, and side effects are usually mild, such as: treatment area soreness, swelling or bruising. We will discuss a detailed review of uncommon risks during your consultation.

What is the recovery time?

Minimal downtime is associated with Sunekos injection treatments, and most patients are able to return to work after their treatment.

Will my results look unnatural?

At DermZen Clinic, we aim to create a natural-looking, rejuvenated appearance for our patients, and to enhance your unique beauty. We favour a ‘less is more’ approach, thus your treatment plan and results can be tailored to suit your needs. Unlike dermal fillers, Sunekos does not alter the structure of your face.

How do I care for my skin afterwards?

After your Sunekos treatment, it is important to keep your skin well looked after.

  • Avoid touching, rubbing or placing physical pressure on the treated area

  • Avoid make up for 12 hours

  • Avoid strenous exercise for 24 hours

  • Avoid spa treatments, hot baths, jacuzzis and saunas for 24 hours

  • Avoid consuming alcohol for 24 hours

  • Avoid smoking, as this could prevent your skin from healing properly

  • Stay hydrated

  • Protect your skin from the sun

  • Contact us as soon as possible, if you experience any unexpected side effect after treatment
