Frequently Asked Questions

Profhilo

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an ultra pure hyaluronic injection that improves the overall health of the skin. It is not a dermal filler, as it does not change the proportions of your face. It impacts on the skins’ luminosity, laxity and hydration via bio-remodelling. It is a perfect treatment for those who may not wish to explore anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler treatments, but wish for a more natural solution to skin quality improvements

How can Profhilo help me?

Profhilo dramatically reduces or remove wrinkles*. It stimulates collagen and elastin production, resulting in a rejuvenated appearance. Profhilo is not static, it spreads under the skin, getting to hard to reach areas. It can be used to treat the following areas; decolletage, stomach, hands, inner arms and thighs and neck.

How safe is Profhilo treatment?

Profhilo treatments have an excellent safety profile, it is made from completely natural hyaluronic acid, which over time, slowly dissolve, causing no harm. Worldwide, they are one of the most requested non-surgical cosmetic treatment. However, as with any medical procedure, there are certain risks and side-effects, which we will discuss with you during your consultation. It is thus important to only have your treatments performed by qualified medical professionals.

How many Profhilo treatments will I need?

We recommend an initial treatment plan of two treatments 4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 6 months. Less frequently, in the event of more profound laxity, three initial treatments may be required for optimal results.

How do I prepare for my appoinment?

  • Unless prescribed by your doctor, avoid taking anti-inflammatories (aspirin, neurofen, ibuprofen, naproxen) for a few days prior to your treatment, as this increases the risk of bruising

  • If you are prone to bruising, take arnica orally a few days before your treatment to reduce the risk

  • If you are unwell on the day of your treatment, please contact us to reschedule your appointment

  • If there are any changes to your medical history or medication, please inform us before recieving treatment

  • Do not plan your treatment within 2 weeks of an important social event or holiday, as this may not allow enough time for side-effects to settle

What happens during an appointment?

We would have a consultation, going through your medical history form (which you would have completed prior to your appointment), assess your treatment area to determine if treatment is appropriate for you. We will go through the side effects specific to your treatment and costs involved, to enable you make an informed decision. Upon completion of consent, pre-treatment clinical photographs will be taken. Topical anaesthetic cream can be applied to enable a comfortable experience. Your skin will be cleaned and prepped for treatment. The Profhilo will be gently injected via a fine needle using the gold standard 5-point BAP (Bio-Aesthetic Points) technique. There are five injection points on each side of the face, which maximise the flow of the product through diffuse regions of the cheek and jawline.

How long do Profhilo treatments take?

Depending on the number of treatment areas, your appointment should typically last for 40 minutes.

How long do the results last?

Profhilo treatments produce long-lasting aesthetic results, if treatment is maintained as advised in your clinical treatment plan. However, results may vary, and are dependent on individuals and treatment areas.** Typically, results are seen 4 weeks following the second treatment, and will last for 6 months on average.

**This may vary according to patient metabolism, smoking and individual

Are there any risks related to Profhilo treatments?

Profhilo is made from high concentration of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar, that we produce in our skin, thus it is safe to use. There is low risk of adverse reactions, and side effects are usually mild, such as: treatment area soreness, swelling or bruising. We will discuss a detailed review of uncommon risks during your consultation.

What is the recovery time?

Minimal downtime is associated with Profhilo injection treatments, and most patients are able to return to work after their treatment.

Will my results look unnatural?

At DermZen Clinic, we aim to create a natural-looking, rejuvenated appearance for our patients, and to enhance your unique beauty. We favour a ‘less is more’ approach, thus your treatment plan and results can be tailored to suit your needs. Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo does not alter the structure of your face.
