What are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters are made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring gel and vitamins. They are an effective injectable treatment for smoothening out moderate lines and wrinkles, sun damage, skin dryness, sagging and loss of elasticit, as well as boosting skin luminosity. They are available in different formulations to give your skin a younger, rejuvenated appearance. They can be used in the face, hands, decolletage and neck regions.

How can skin boosters help me?

Using micro-aliquots, the unique blend of non-cross linked hyaluronic acid, anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals is injected beneath your skins’ surface. Thus, providing instant and cumulative hydration whilst stimulating collagen production.

How safe are dermal filler treatments

Treatments with skin boosters have an excellent safety profile, they are made from completely natural hyaluronic acid, which over time, slowly dissolve, causing no harm. Worldwide, they are one of the most requested non-surgical cosmetic treatment. However, as with any medical procedure, there are certain risks and side-effects, which we will discuss with you during your consultation. It is thus important to only have your treatments performed by qualified medical professionals.

How many treatments will I need?

Skin boosters are administered in 3 sessions, at 3-4 weeks intervals. Thereafter, to maintain your naturally rejuvenated and glowing results, it is recommended that you have one treatment session every 4 months.

How do I prepare for my appoinment?

• Unless prescribed by your doctor, avoid taking anti-inflammatories (aspirin, neurofen, ibuprofen, naproxen) for a few days prior to your treatment, as this increases the risk of bruising

• If you are prone to bruising, take arnica orally a few days before your treatment to reduce the risk

• If you are unwell on the day of your treatment, please contact us

• If there are any changes to your medical history or medication, please inform us before recieving treatment

• Do not plan your treatment within 2 weeks of an important social event or holiday, as this may not allow enough time for side-effects to settle

What happens during an appointment?

We will have a consultation, going through your medical history form (which you would have completed prior to your appointment), assess your treatment area to determine if treatment is appropriate for you. We will go through the side effects specific to your treatment and costs involved, to enable you make an informed decision. Upon completion of consent, pre-treatment clinical photographs will be taken. Our skin boosters contain lidocaine, a numbing agent to reduce pain or discomfort during the procedure. Topical anaesthesia can also be applied to enable a comfortable experience. Your skin will be cleaned and prepped for treatment. the skin booster will either be administered via a fine needle, mesotherapy device or cannulae into specific areas, and gently massaged if required to give a natural harmonious look.

How long does the skin booster treatment take?

Depending on the number of treatment areas, and how much skin booster you require, your appointment should typically last for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

How long do the results last?

Skin boosters produce long-lasting aesthetic results, which lasts between 18 - 24 months. However, results may vary, and are dependent on products used and treatment areas.** The cosmetic results will gradually fade over time until your skin returns to its previous state. A maintenance treatment plan of once every 4 months is recommended to keep you looking beautiful.

Are there any risks related to Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters containing non-crosslinked and lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar, that we produce in our skin, is safe to use. There is low risk of adverse reactions, and side effects are usually mild, such as: treatment area soreness, swelling or bruising. We will discuss a detailed review of uncommon risks during your consultation.

What is the recovery time?

Minimal downtime is associated with skin booster injection treatments, and most patients are able to return to work after their treatment.

How do I care for my skin afterwards?

After your skin booster treatment, it is important to keep your skin well looked after.

• Avoid touching, rubbing or placing physical pressure on the treated area

• Avoid make up for 12 hours

• Avoid strenous exercise for 24 hours

• Avoid spa treatments, hot baths, steam rooms and saunas for 24 hours

• Avoid consuming alcohol for 24 hours

• Avoid smoking, as this could prevent your skin from healing properly

• Stay hydrated

• Protect your skin from the sun
